The Business Forum Foundation, Inc. was created to raise and distribute funds for
scholarships to encourage women of all ages to complete their college educations.
The Foundation was incorporated in May 1988 as a charitable organization under 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. As a charitable foundation, it is exempt from income and sales tax. Therefore, contributions to the Foundation qualify as charitable donations for tax purposes.
The Foundation operates exclusively for charitable and educational purposes. The Foundation has no members and is governed by TBF's Board. For the purposes of allocating income and expense, any TBF activities associated with our scholarship program are considered activities of the Foundation.
Over the years, a variety of fundraising efforts have contributed to the success of the scholarship program. These have included generous giving by our members and Annual Forum and Harvest Gala events. Since 1998, the largest fundraiser has been the annual ATHENA Award celebration.
