What is the Community Action Coalition (CAC)?
The
Community Action Coalition (CAC) is a Community Action Agency established under the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964. CAC's mission is "to develop the economic and social capacities of individuals, families and communities to reduce poverty in Dane, Jefferson and Waukesha counties."
CAC provides many services and a variety of programs to the community. It also serves other non-profit agencies such as the Domestic Abuse and Intervention Service. One of CAC's major programs is its Clothing Center for men, women and children.
How Does TBF Support the CAC?
One focus of The Business Forum's 20th anniversary celebration in 2008 was creating opportunities for members to give back to the community. CAC's many programs provided several activities in which TBF members became involved in 2008.
TBF members donated gently used clothing and/or personal care items to the CAC. Members also volunteered to help sort clothing at the center.
Results from 2008 CAC community service by TBF members reached 469 items donated and 30 hours of volunteer time served at the clothing center.
