What is the Domestic Abuse and Intervention Service?
The
Domestic Abuse and Intervention Service (DAIS) has been providing quality prevention and intervention services to individuals and families in Dane County since 1977. It accomplishes its mission by providing intervention programs for victims of domestic violence and their children. DAIS also delivers prevention programs, education, training and outreach.
DAIS operates a 25-bed Emergency Shelter to serve battered women and their children in Dane County. Also, unlike some of its partner agencies that provide temporary housing, DAIS provides 30-day shelter.
How Does TBF Support DAIS?
One focus of The Business Forum's 20th anniversary celebration is providing opportunities for members to give back to the community. DAIS was happy to have TBF as a partner in 2008 to support its mission.
DAIS gives every client it serves one outfit of new clothing. To support this effort, TBF members donated new clothing for women and children, as well as underwear and pajamas. Members also donated new personal care products and gift sets, and items such as gift cards for gas, food and clothing.
TBF volunteers also helped DAIS by donating used cell phones and/or holding a collection for used cell phones. DAIS uses the proceeds from the used cell phones to support its programs.
Results from our 2008 support to DAIS includes over 100 items donated by TBF members.
