Congratulations to the 2011 ATHENA Young Professional Award Recipient
Madison, November 21, 2011 – The Business Forum (TBF) of Madison is pleased to announce its ATHENA Young Professional Award recipient for 2011. Ms. Kristi Thorson received the award on Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at the ATHENA Young Professional Award ceremony at the Best Western’s Top of the Park (Inn on the Park) in Madison.
Ms. Thorson is the Director of External Relations at the UW School of Veterinary Medicine, where she manages a comprehensive program of external fundraising, stewardship and communications to alumni and donors. Previously she worked with the UW Chancellor’s Office as Assistant Director, State Relations.
In addition to her professional career, Ms. Voss Thorson is deeply involved in community service activities. She is currently on the Board of Directors for the McFarland Youth Center and the Madison Area Down Syndrome Society and has held several volunteer positions within each organization over the years.
The Award actively supports and celebrates the international ATHENA mission of supporting, developing and honoring women leaders, and inspiring women to achieve their full potential—creating balance in leadership worldwide.>
The purpose of the local ATHENA Young Professional Award is to honor emerging leaders in the community who strive toward the highest levels of personal and professional accomplishment, who excel in their chosen field, devote time and energy to their community in a meaningful way, and serve as a role model for young women between the ages of 25-40.
